Novak Djokovic Deported
The Novak Djokovic deportation saga is over. After two weeks of on and off process of deportation of Novak Djokovic from Australia is over. The process that took place on the Saturday night is over. Djokovic’s visa is cancelled and he is deported from Australia.
The tennis world number one is deported hence depriving him the opportunity to compete in the Australian Open. With that, his opportunity to become the first tennis player that one 21 Grand Slams is over.
How it begins?
It all begun when he arrived in Australia two weeks ago. Even though he had the medical exemption, the decision of the authorities in Australia is that it is against the common good that he stays in Australia without the vaccination. The Australian immigration minister Alex Hawke decided to cancel his visa. Novak Djokovic complained to the decision and won the first round. The federal Court ruled in his favor. After that, the immigration minister used his discretion right to revoke the visa again. Djokovic complained to this decision as well but this time the court decided that it is in the interest of Australian people that Djokovic cannot stay in Australia and fight for the 10th title in Melbourne.
The mistake by Novak’s agents
Novak’s agents allegedly entered false information in the visa application putting Djokovic in the difficult situation. Prior to this, Djokovic got the medical exemption from the Australian health officers due to the fact that he vas already positive on the Covid-19 in December. This did not stop the immigration minister to revoke the visa of tennis world number one claiming that he might be a danger to the Australians. The Covid regulations in Australia are very strict. One of the strictest regulations in the world since the start of the pandemic.
However, there is the opinion that the reason for this was not whether Djokovic was vaccinated or not but the fact that the Elections in Australia are scheduled for the April and that this was all political. The authorities wanted to show the people that they do mean best for their citizens and on whom else they will build the case but on one of the most famous people in the world.
Healthiest athlete in the world
Stating that Djokovic is threat for the health of Australians is senseless. Novak Djokovic proved himself as one of the healthiest people in the world. The person who takes care of his health and body. That he does not want to get the vaccine is his own right and every person in the world has this right. So, why did the Australian health officers approved the medical exemption in the first place?
The opinion of the public
The opinion of the public persons is divided in this case. Some greeted the decision for the Djokovic to be deported while other part stand firm with Djokovic. Even Nick Kirgyos stands beside Djokovic side, and we now that Kirgyois was the loudest person against Djokovic in the past. He stated that what the government of Australia do to Djokovic is not right and that they should let him stay in Melbourne and compete against other tennis players.
However, on the other side, there were tennis players that were against Djokovic in this matter. The loudest were Rafael Nadal, Martina Navratilova and Stefanos Cicipas. They all stated that Djokovic was wrong deciding not to vaccinate and that ne now needs to deal with the consequences.
All in all, this was the huge injustice towards the best tennis player in the world. We can just hope that he will get the proper rest and that we will see him in the Roland Garros lift the winner trophy.
