Euro 2024 Group Stage Confirmed
When is EURO 24?
Group Stage confirmed. We now need to wait for the paly-offs to finish and we are set for the EURO 2024. We are actually 194 days until the begin of the Euro 2024 that will take place in Germany. It starts on 14th of June, 2024.
Format of the competition in the Group Stage!
This time the format of the competition is little bit changes. This time, there will be 24 national teams in total. They will be divided in six groups of four national selections. Out of each group, two best teams will go to next stage and four best third-place teams will advance to 1/16 finals.
No doubt we are about to witness spectacle as best teams qualify for the EURO 24. After 20 years, Serbia managed to qualify in rather easy group. One of the surprises of the qualifying rounds is Poland that did not qualify in the group among Albania, Czechia, Moldova and Faroe Islands, but they will have their chance in the play-off.
So, the Group Stage draw is confirmed and we know which 21 team are drawn. We are just waiting for another 3 teams to complete the Play-Offs and earn they spot in Germany next year.
How does Play-Offs Work?
Twelve teams are participating in the Play-Offs. In Path I to EURO 24, Wales will host Finland and Poland will host Estonia. Winners will play against each other to earn they spot in Germany. In Path II, Israel will play against Iceland while Bosnia and Herzegovina will host Ukraine. Also, the winners of each single leg will compete for their spot in Germany. Finally, in the Path III, potential tournaments debutants Georgia and Luxemburg will play in semifinal of Path III while on the other side, Kazakhstan will play against Greece. The play-offs semi-finals and finals will take place from 21st of March to 26th of March. With these matches finished, the group stage will be completed for the EURO 24.
Group Stage for EURO 24
As we mentioned above, we already know how the groups look like. Here is how the groups look like:
Group A: Germany, Scotland, Hungary, Switzerland
Group B: Spain, Croatia, Italy, Albania
Group C: Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia, England
Group D: Play-Off Win A ( path I), Netherlands, Austria, France
Group E: Belgium, Slovakia, Romania, Play-Off Win B ( path II)
Group F: Turkiye, Play-Off Win C (path III), Portuga, Czechia
So, it is fair to say that the groups B and C are the maybe toughest groups for the upcoming EURO 24. Maybe group B is little bit more tough and deserves the so called “Group of Death” nickname as it consists of EURO winners ( Spain and Italy) and World Cup Runner-ups Croatia.
