Top 5 Transfers In January 2022

Transfer window is closed in most of the leagues in the world. Although it is not as busy as the transfer window in summer, there were some rather interesting transfers happen.

There were many transfers that happen this January but we will compile the most interesting ones. We have combined the list from the lowest to highest transfer fee.

5. Lucas Digne

French international who capped 43 times for the France national team moved from Everton to Aston Villa. Steven Gerrard wanted to bolster his defense so the choice came up to Lucas Digne who proved himself as the valuable player. The transfer fee is supposed to be $33 million. Prior to Everton Lucas Digne played for Lille, PSG, Roma and Barcelona.

4. Bruno Guimaraes

The 24 year old Brazilian came to Newcastle from Lyon for $46.31 million. Guimaraes plays as the defensive midfielder. He played 56 games for Lyon and scored 3 goals. However, his main task is to interrupt the opposition and prevent them making chances in front of his goal. He is just one of the many players new chiefs of Newcastle want to bring in. We will have to wait for the summer transfer window to see how much they are willing to spend and on which players.

3. Luis Diaz

Liverpool has issues with the Africa Cup of Nations where Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are on the international duty. So, this was rather obvious move as they bring in the left winger from Porto for $49.5 million. However, when Salah and Mane return we think that there will be tough competition for the first team squad. Before Porto, Diaz played for Barranquilla FC and Atletico Junior back in homeland, in Columbia. Since 2018, Diaz played for Columbia in 32 occasions scoring 7 goals.

2. Ferran Torres

Since the departure of Lionel Messi, Barcelona has been in serious problems. First, there are financial issues due to which they could not register summer signings. Then there is ongoing issue with the Ousmane Dembele whose future in Barcelona is not quite certain. There are some rumors that Dembele will leave Barcelona which will open the door for the acquisition of Alvaro Morata. The signing of Ferran Torres gives hope to Barcelona fans that the turmoil period is behind them, and that Barcelona is back on track. Torres’s debut is yet to come but it is expected that he will make a difference to the team.

The transfer fee was $60.5 million. Ferran Torres plays in the position of winger. Before Barcelona, Torres played for Valencia and Manchester City.

1. Dusan Vlahovic

January transfer saga for the best striker at the moment in the world, is over. Dusan Vlahovic rejected Arsenal and decided to go to Fiorentina’s fierce rivals, Juventus. This was not something Fiorentina fans approved so there were some ill words, even threats for the life of Serbian international. However, the transfer echoed throughout the world as this is one of the most valuable players in past two years. He even tied Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal scoring record in one calendar year. They both stopped at number 33. Huge achievement for Vlahovic. He did it at the age of 22. That he is class already, shows the fact that he managed to get to the first squad of Serbia national team, scoring 7 times in 14 occasions. He is to be a partner with another goal machine, Aleksandar Mitrovic (scored 28 goals in 28 games) in the national squad.

Arrival of Vlahovic open the possibility for Barca to go after Alvaro Morata. Since the transfer window is closed now, we will see if this will happen in summer transfer window.

The transfer fee was $90 million. Prior to Fiorentina, Vlahovic played for FC Partizan Belgrade.
