Is Novak Djokovic The Best Tennis Player Of All Time

When you think about the GOAT in tennis, three names are high above. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

This is the ongoing discussion and everyone are right and wrong, right. It is really hard to answer the question without being unbiased. Those who love Federer, say he is the best of all time. Those who love Nadal, say he is the best and it goes the same for Djokovic.

However, nobody can deny the fact that in the last decade Djokovic shifted tennis on another level. Since 2011, Djokovic managed to level the number of Grand Slam titles with the other two (20 each). Beside that, Djokovic has the positive result with both of them when it comes to H2H matches. What is interesting for this year, Djokovic is chasing the Golden Slam (all Grand Slams plus Olympic Games). So far, he needs to win US Open and to get the golden medal on the Olympics. If he manages to do that, he will be unquestionably the best player tennis ever had.

Novak Djokovic has won 20 Grand Slams, 36 ATP Masters, and 5 ATP Finals which is total of 61 titles. To compare to other two, Federer has 54 titles combined, and Nadal 57. If you take these titles into consideration, you can easily say that Djokovic is already a GOAT. It is worth mentioning that in 2018, Federer had 20 Grand Slams, Nadal 17, while Djokovic had “only” 13. You can see that in last three years, Djokovic played “out-of-the-world” tennis.

What goes in favor for Djokovic is the current record he holds. He is currently 329 weeks as number 1, and counting. However, in the respect of the consecutive weeks as number 1, Federer has 237 weeks by his name while Djokovic is on the number of 122. The number of weeks at number 1 is unlikely to change before November as Djokovic do not defend many points. The “positive” thing for Djokovic is that he does not have to defend much points in the US Open as he was disqualified last year after the incident with one of the line umpires.

The above mentioned numbers show us that at the moment, Djokovic is the best player in the world.
